Anyone know what the deal is with the Carnet de Chasse? Should this have been sent out? (Nothing to do with the Police this). Am I right that one needs the 2010 one to be able to pay for this year's licence? If so can I pay for all my other licences and pay the "hunting" one later?

Thanks

From what I gather, it's a mepa thing. Mepa didn't recieve the ordered prints. It seems that these might be out within a week or two..

Helpful individuals, working in an environment similar to the "Telex" age, compounded by work practices that were thrown out the window way back in the "Thatcher era" does nothing to make things look positve.Yes, we all started renewing our Licences yesterday without hassle. But the two week IT shutdown (actually things shut down much before that due to PCs taking Christmas leave) leaves a sour taste.
The problems don't stop there. The continual confusion of the system still haunts. On renewing my Licence yesteday, I was told that although I have Pre-46 guns on my collectors licence "A", I am now told that I don't have a collector's licence "A", since it does not show up at the top of the form. I am 1000% sure that I sat for the Weapon's Board Interview and was issued with a Positive notification. I subsequently deposted this certificate at my local PS so that I could apply for a collector's licence. Following that, I had bought a Prte-46 gun and also transferred my Luger onto this licence.
I have been asked to produce the original certificate, which I don't have, since I deposited it at the PS. Hopefully, I will find the photo copy :-(

Follow up and a very satisfactory outcome.

I asked at the local cop club  Grin whether I could pay all my other licences except s/gun "to carry" due to the fact that the carnet booklet (or whatever form it will take this year) has not yet turned up.

No problem was the comment.

So that I did, and while at it, I asked about the status of my latest application to import/transfer some airguns, which were physically imported a while back and were being retained at Ballistics for inspection / pending licencing. The status recorded as at mid January was "awaiting documents".

Went to W.O. yesterday and just as imagined, the "documents" were my renewed licences. In less than 10 minutes, I had the guns on my licence (thanks J) together with Ballistics' phone number and advice to call early. That I did just today, was told basically "come and get them now" and together with an extremely helpful police officer whose name I did not catch, a new guy it would seem, we checked the serials and I was out of there.

Excellent going and some more toys to mess with  Grin

Eliminator and Patriot on the artillery front  Grin

And some CO2 pistols and a couple of recoilless springer Original  mod. 6 M pistols. These latter are more "dead" to fire than any PCP pistol even, quite a surreal experience.

Only 9 in all  Grin  Grin the Police will soon be charging us for the paper that the licence is printed on, it seems, but I do know some people who are already used to taking a ream of A4 with them...

RB,

Notwithstanding your recent aquisitions, there are many a sorrowful soul who has to wait for inconsistant periods of time for their local Cop Shop to finally call them up to inform them that their gun transfer has been finally done.

Another question that needs answering - "Why does one Town Cop Shop take over a month to effect a simple transfer while for another district, it's a matter of wait while it's done?"

Yes DG I agree that some of the cop clubs have "members" who seem to want to make sure that you 'appreciate' the 'favour' they are doing you by giving you what is yours by right.

In their own time, of course.

It sux - again, of course. Sometimes giving a servile at-your-mercy look helps. That sux, too. Of course.

This is not a cop exclusive, you will find this attitude in many places where you really dont' have the option to take your custom elsewhere.
