Study shows that more firearms do NOT result in higher murder rate
« on: August 27, 2013, 12:55:12 PM » by CB
A bit long and scholarly, but useful when one is challenged to provide proof of what we all know.
Example:
"the Soviet Unionpossessed extremely stringent gun controls that were effectuated by a police state apparatus providing stringent enforcement. So successful was that regime that few Russian civilians now have firearms and very few murders involve them.
Yet, manifest success in keeping its people disarmed did not prevent the Soviet Union from having far and away the highest murder rate in the developed world.

It's especially useful to us as it looks into the European context in detail.

Another interesting article:

The latest study from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention in the States should also be particularly worrying for the anti gunners.

For an interesting comment on the study, have a look at http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/cri...-gun-narrative.

DC Study Ordered by Obama Contradicts White House Anti-gun Narrative

Written by Bob Adelmann

He concludes:

"If the president was looking to the CDC report for support on how to reduce the threat of firearm-related violence through legislation restricting the rights of American citizens, he was sorely disappointed. Perhaps thatís why so few of the media have publicized the report. In fact, the only establishment media even to mention the report was the Washington Post, which criticized it for not answering questions that it wasn't asked to answer!"

I'm not so sure about Syria - there are increasing reports of the military being increasingly unhappy with the thought of fighting with Al Queda. This is compounded by the contradictory reports of who actually used the chemical weapons

One example (Warning: for those with sensitive stomachs, this is an extremely graphic and distrubing video)

I do, however, agree completely that his gun-control aspirations are dead in the water. In fact, he has probably been the best thing for gun ownership since the war of independance!  Cheesy
