it inspired the MP 28 and Spain made a copy of both MP 28 and SIG Bergmann 1920

The Lanchester was  copy of a captured MP 28, bolts were interchangeable!

The Sten was its well known offspring





The Sten inspired the OWEN, the Patchett, the Sterling and a few others.

Vollmer had created a peculiar magazine for the MP18 and worked on its own MP together with Berthold Geipel

The EMP was a commercial success before WW2 and used the telescopic bolt found later in the MP 38, MP40 and MP 41

in 1918, Louis Stange working for Rheinmetall had designed a ompetitor to the Bergmann MP18 that arrived too late to be manufactured. It was manufactured by Solothurn in Switzerland as MP 30 and later by Steyr as MP 34.
